Great stat graphs, easy to use, great design
Sleep Better with Runtastic for Android is a beautiful looking app that tracks your sleep and wakes you up at the perfect time.
From first starting up Sleep Better, you will notice that it looks great. It borrows from material design elements, with a traditional slide menu on the right with different tabs and a basic header with your picture there as an icon. By your icon you can see your sleep proficiency.
The main part of the app is where you start your sleep tracking. It’s interesting because you can select a few different boxes to check before you sleep like: stressful day, worked out, not my bed, ate late, caffeine, or alcohol. I suppose these will impact your sleep proficiency or factor into the data in some way or another.
This whole main layout of starting your sleep cycle is blue and yellow tinted with teal. The text is white, and the whole experience feels perfect for a design that centers around sleeping. It feels calming.
All you do is tap start and it starts tracking away. You put it on your bed, and I put it on the side of my pillow - it recommends charging it but I found I could make it easily throughout the night without it charging, although it did take a significant portion of my battery life with it (I think around 10-20%). So if you have to leave for work and don’t have time to charge your phone, you might want to listen to the app.
Once you track your sleep, you can see how you did through a cool detailed graph. It shows various cycles like awake time, deep sleep, and light sleep - and then the associated times in which you spent each cycle. You can also see the amount of time you have slept.
Sleep Better looks great and works great. While there are similar apps out there, I think Sleep Better is a great choice. There are some pop up ads, but there is a premium version with some small additional features (like moon tracking) and it takes away the inconvenience of ads.
