It is rare that you'll find an arcade game that has good gameplay, an interesting story, great graphics and enough content to keep you coming back for hours, but Froog and the Spider Tower for Android has managed to do just that. Froog is a frog flinging arcade game that is perhaps best compared to Cut the Rope - directional swipes play an important role, but the overall gameplay is something completely different.
When you first open up Froog, you will be taken through a small cut scene where you see a gamer at night being zapped by lightning, which transforms him into a frog and teleports him into a gaming world. The objective of this frog-turned gamer is to rescue the princess who has also been trapped in the same land, gain a kiss, and transform back into a human.
The plot of this story is as old as Earth itself, but seeing this small animation at the beginning of the game really sets you up for a more enjoyable experience. Once the story cut scene is done, you will be taken into the game. From here, you will learn how to fling your frog by swipe different direction on the screen. On each level, you must eat the items by swinging into them. Once you have eaten enough items a key will appear and you will be able to go to the next level.
Each of the items you eat will all have different qualities - for example, some must be eaten at the same time, whilst others must be eaten in order. There are also traps and dangers that can end the game and force you to start the level from the start.
Froog and the Spider Tower is one of the best arcade available, and it's got enough challenging levels to keep you playing for a long time.
