Complex gameplay, awesome story, quality graphics
Controls need a bit of getting used to, difficult to play on small screens
Haegemonia – Legions of Iron for Android is one of the best futuristic Sci-Fi strategy game available on the platform. It features true real-time strategy gameplay, an in-depth management system, awesome graphics and tons of features to enrich the player’s experience.
The game revolves around two rival factions of humans vying for supremacy of the solar system and the human race overall. The game features two different campaigns for the players to enjoy as they battle on behalf of either of the two factions. Levels are well designed and have plenty of variation, ranging from escort missions to base management, defense and even ambush missions. Battles revolve mostly around playing on your unit’s strengths and maneuverability, combined with careful planning on the location where the battle will take place so as to use the environment, or nearby bases to your advantage.
Controls are highly complex and require a bit of time before they are fully understood. They require using swipes, taps, buttons and menus, often at the same time, to trigger all the game’s mechanics.
Overall Haegemonia – Legions of Iron manages to prove its greatness almost from the start. The huge drawback is that it requires a large screen device in order to properly control your units and issue orders without tapping in the wrong place at the wrong time. For smaller screens the controls can be truly frustrating as it often requires precise taps and multiple fingers in order to maneuver the camera, order troops and build up your empire.
