Review WinterForts: Exiled Kingdom

Great style, small changes to formula
You probably are sick of these games
Winter Forts: Exiled Kingdom for Android is what would happen if the little men in Clash of Clans had a winter apocalypse and turned into vikings. The game borrows many mechanics from the genre like base building, resource collecting, and micro transactions.
Lets start with what I like about the game. The game has an interesting little twist on base mechanics in the wars that happen and the home. Your base can be attacked by invaders right at the door, and you have to defend it with your little guys that walk around your base. When you attack, its a little more strategic as you have to capture vantage points then spawn units in those points. It’s pretty similar to other games of the same genre with a slight little twist.
I think my favorite part about the game is it’s art style and graphical design. Everything feels cold and white, and the blues in the game really pop out in the water and the viking character designs. Sometimes things like villagers tend to stutter when moving and the FPS doesn’t always perform well, but things still look great. I like how your little village has a wall around it and how you can build little roads between your buildings.
I’m sure you aren’t new to this type of game. In fact, I think relatively few people haven’t played Clash of Clans or the countless other clones on the market. If you are new, things are still explained in the tutorial and you should be able to grasp everything relatively easily. You tap on buildings to collect resources, and another cool thing is that you can send workers to scavenger materials beyond the wall. This little feature makes the game almost feel like a real RTS game.
Winter Forts: Exiled Kingdom doesn’t really hold any surprises and for what it’s lacking in technical know how and gameplay polish, it does have a certain winter charm about it.
