Repetitive puzzles, the environment could have been more detailed
Lego has been a huge impact on almost every child. Naturally such games have become more and more available for young people to live a similar experience. Lego Creator Islands for Android is a themed village builder that is easily available to young gamers.
The user is instantly dropped onto a Lego island and given the task of building up a thriving community. Plots give the player the option to build upon them through assembly mini-games where the goal is to assemble a structure or vehicle by maneuvering Lego pieces into the appropriate spot and a logical order. As this is a game designed for younger audiences, the puzzles are fairly easy and do not require the same instruction manuals as real constructions. Each new building generates more golden bricks which act as currency, and each new vehicle helps to clear adjacent obstacles and create new plots. Even cute, yet ridiculously huge bunnies serve a purpose on these islands, clearing plants for new expansion plots.
Everything in the game looks blocky and colorful, as you would expect from a Lego game. Every object in the game is made out of the famous bricks and actually be recreated. The terrain is not the most detailed but works well in combination with the blocky design.
Overall Lego Creator is a fun game, designed to be relaxing for younger audiences. It tends to be rather monotonous at times, more so when you have to re-build the same constructions over and over. The lack of a tutorial means that newcomers have a slight learning curve to overcome, while users with more experience in this type of games will get used to it easier.
