Review Talkz

Kevin Vadala
Hilarious potential, voices can work really well
Sometimes there are glitches
Talking Stickers Free for Android is a goofy but fun app that lets you create celebrity figure heads (the app calls them stickers) that mimic popular celebrities or public figures. You simply type what you want the celebrity figurehead to say, and after logging in through facebook or your email, you can send a little video clip through email, text, Facebook, or Twitter.
My first text I sent an Obama face that said “Carebear?”. My friend Chris told me he got it, and that he thought it was creepy. I guess the app got the job done didn’t it?
For an app like this to be successful the voices of the little computerized celebrity figurehead video/pictures need to be fairly accurate. I found that Obama actually did sound very similar to Obama and when I sent a Kim Kardashian celebrity figurehead the text performed very well. When I tried the “Governator”, it hiccuped on the word “Nay Sayer”. I didn’t really expect all of the voices to perform extremely well and to never have problems with text. Overall, I was very impressed with the voices and accuracy of the celebrity figureheads.
Talkz also doesn’t have any ads that get in the way of things and there aren’t any interruptions while using the app. It’s also cool that you can give suggestions for new figureheads for the makers to create.
Talkz is a very fun app, and it’s a great twist on common emojis. It’s an application that can grow with more voices and it looks like the developers are taking suggestions from the community which is a good thing. I was very impressed with how easy it is to send stickers through messages and how quick my friends received them.
