Great, mind teasing puzzles, atmospheric soundtrack, simple controls
The story could have been more obvious
Unmechanical is an amusing little game that combines adventure in a strange world with complex puzzle solving to create the perfect blend of the two game types. Follow the exploits of a tiny helicopter robot as he ventures deep into a strange new world.
The game’s controls are so simple and intuitive that no one will have a problem navigating the world and solving puzzles. Tap and hold anywhere on the screen guide your main character in that direction. Tapping on your little robot triggers the ultimate puzzle solving tool: the tractor beam. This is able to help you lift objects and also has the ability to interface with most buttons and controls you will find.
Puzzle complexity varies as you progress through the game. From simple rock moving with the help of the tractor beam, to guiding beams of light with mirrors and even assembling a few tools that help you press multiple buttons at once, expect to do a lot of unexpected things. If you seem to be stuck at one of the more difficult puzzles, stand still for a moment and tap on the question mark. This will make the robot ponder his surroundings.
Overall Unmechanical for Android is a great little game that is worth busting out a few dollars on the quality of the game over its competitors. While solving everything may seem easy at first, do not expect things to remain so as you delve deeper into this new world, so a little creativity and ingenuity are mandatory. Powered by the Unreal Engine, the graphics have a unique and strange beauty to them. Environments, while dark and somber, are extremely well detailed.
