Cool hero mechanics
Story is as cliche as they come, easy but micro transactions galore
Alien Creeps for Android is yet another tower defense game. You are humans protecting the world from aliens. I know, I know. You are sick of aliens. Well these Aliens have a story. They have a plight. Desires, needs, love - just kidding. They are just cannon fodder for your turrets.
Tower defense is now and in some ways has been an old genre. Many game developers use the formula to make games because most things are already made for them. You make a track, put spots where you can make turrets, throw in some stylized cartoony graphics with over pompous characters and some small new mechanics. It’s a goldmine baby!
With that in mind, Alien Creeps doesn’t really innovate. It’s got the same things, but the gameplay is pretty solid. There is your traditional towers, with rockets, lasers, machine guns, and small advancing masses of aliens. You can upgrade these towers outside the maps with coin, then wait, or use micro transactions to speed up the process, or buy coins with microtransactions. There's a lot of upgrades (of course) and you can control heroes that are upgradeable themselves. The heroes can be moved around during gameplay which is cool and semi-reminiscent, or stolen from, Warcraft 3 tower defense games.
You move around the map protecting and killing aliens while upgrading your towers and hero. You can even get new heroes upon further progression. With that in mind, progression will be harder if you take the free route. Games like these always encourage transactions, and Alien Creeps is no exception.
Alien creeps has decent graphics, decent polished tower defense gameplay, and the same run-of-the-mill story line that proliferates the mobile genre.
