Great graphics and effects, realistic controls and inputs
More Sandbox modes would be cool
Extreme Landings for Android is a powerful plane simulation game in which you can pilot a plane with failing engines and a variety of other problems. Only the most skilled and determined pilots will survive.
Extreme Landings is impressive in many ways. First, it has crisp graphics. The lighting in the game is colorful, and the skies and waters look great. The plane itself has a bunch of different view angles which all have neat panels and readouts for the player to access. The plane even has very detailed graphics like certain parts of the plane opening up for landing, or part of it catching on fire then having more and more smoke come out. There are even spectacular explosions when your plane misbehaves. The whole thing cracks in pieces and fires reach for the skies in terrific glory.
Each one of the viewing panels offers a multitude of ways to manipulate your plane in the air. The game does a good job of explaining all of the different panels so they never feel overly complicated. With that said, I think the different buttons and gizmos that you can use really make this plane simulator feel real and fun. On one mission I was both trying to steer my plane while a part of it was on fire and also trying to shut down the engine that was on fire. After that, I was trying to land and steer my plane so it didn't explode while hitting the ground and I was also trying to shut down all engines and decelerate. These moments are when the game truly stands out and feels unique.
One of the things within the game that bothered me was the main content consisting of planned disasters. Each mission you do, there is something wrong with your plane and you have to save it. This makes the game have a lot of structure, but I found the game most fun when problems with my plane happened due to my own accord. In the beginning of the game I ignored my Captain’s advice and accelerated faster than recommended. My plane stalled and flew off into the ocean to shatter in pieces. Remember, water can often feel like concrete at high speeds! There is a land now mode available which does bring some of that random action to the table.
Extreme Landings for Android is a very fun and exhilarating game. Make sure to check it out!
