A music discovery app that plays tunes for free

Interesting functionality, modern design
Lags a bit
Spotify Music for Android lets you listen to full length songs from most any genre or artist; including the latest hits.
Spotify Music is a lot like Pandora. Basically, it's a music sampling service. You can look up any artist you like and listen to almost anything they've recorded. But the app isn't just about giving away free music, it's about music discovery. The app is essentially meant to act like your own personal radio station; just select a genre, category or artist to begin listening. After the first song from your selected artist plays, the app will move on to similar artists, in the hopes that you'll discover a new song or album you like enough to buy. The original artist you searched for will be peppered into the generated playlist, however, you'll hear more from 'similar' artists than the one you selected. But that's the trade-off for listening to free music.
The app functions nicely for the most part. Virtually every category of music is represented here, so there's plenty to explore and hear. The app itself displays album covers on a grid, so everything is visually pleasing and inspires you to browse. You can save favorites to a short list for easy access later.
I did experience some buffering issues here and there, but enjoyed a relatively smooth experience throughout. Clicking on a track brings up a simple player, which is also available in the notifications bar once the app is minimized. Yes, you can multitask and listen to music while doing other things on your gizmo.
Spotify Music is a very nice personal radio style app that promotes discovery of new artists. It's as good as Pandora and I really enjoyed using it.
