Review Box
An office app that handles over 100 file formats
Author: Jay Feldman
Date: 02 Jul 2017, tested on ASUS Nexus 7 (2013)
Powerful functionality, simple interface
Small fonts, inconvenient on a small screen
Box for Android is a comprehensive productivity and business app that can handle over 100 document formats and can create all of your basic office documents.
Box is a highly functional business app for those on the go. Just create your account and verify your email address to get started. Once inside the app, you'll be able to work with a variety of files and share them to the cloud. You can view PDFs, search text and make highlights and notes too. The app also creates Word Docs, Excel Spreadsheets, Power Point Presentations or Box Notes. You also get 10gb of free cloud storage, which is quite a lot. I was impressed with all the file extensions this app can handle.
The app functions quickly with only minor hangs here and there. The menu structure is nicely laid out, and sifting through documents and menus is a breeze. However, creating any of the office documents opens a dialog box with exceedingly small fonts that are difficult to read on a 7" screen, let alone a cell phone. This is seemingly a small thing, yet drastically impacts the functionality of certain aspects of this app.
Searching documents was very fast and intuitive; results were highlighted and notes can be made directly in the document. There's also a home screen widget that will keep your finger on the pulse of what's happening with your business content.
Box is one of those 'must have' business apps. It's highly versatile, compatible with a huge number of file formats and functions well.
