Interesting game play, one-finger controls
Bad English grammar, glitches, too many ads
The thrill of rappelling down a cliff is something many do not get to experience in their lifetimes. Vertical Cliff for Android is a game that attempts to capture that experience and deliver it to smart devices. It may not be exactly as exciting, but remains a simple and fun game.
The gameplay is fairly simple, allowing almost anyone to delve in. Once your character has begun his descent, tapping and holding on any spot within the movement area orders him to jump in towards that point. While holding down on the screen a gauge will appear, wait too long, or too little, and you will miss the sweet spot and your character will miss his landing, but release in the perfect zone and your character will land right on his target. Getting a large amount of perfect jumps and a frenzy mode will be triggered. In the course of the descent you must take care to avoid landing on boulders, dodge falling rocks, escape from giant birds and maneuver around many other obstacles.
Missing your jump causes your rope to deteriorate, if either that or your health reaches zero, your character will plummet to his death, forcing you to fail the mission. Along your descent there are plenty of objectives to complete in order to earn stars, which can be used to unlock more environments.
Overall Vertical Cliff is an enjoyable game, although over the course of my play though i had to deal with lots of broken textures and somewhat unresponsive controls, in addition to all the hazards the game threw at me.
