Review ES File Explorer File Manager
Outstanding network integration and tabbed browsing
Author: Jay Feldman
Date: 15 Jul 2017, tested on ASUS Nexus 7 (2013)
Powerful functionality, stylish design
Could use more themes
ES File Explorer File Manager for Android is another of my all-time favorite file explorers for Droid. It's simple, fast and has the best network integration for external drives.
ES File Explorer File Manager has a highly intuitive interface that looks good and invites discovery. The presentation is very clean and very much mimics a desktop experience, but with a modern twist. I love that you can keep up to 12 tabs open at the same time for easy switching between browsed folders. This makes copy and pasting tasks a breeze. And when you're looking for that one file you just can't seem to find, it really helps to keep a history of where you've already looked. The tabs can even be used to surf the net, which is something I don't recall seeing in any other app like this.
Network integration is fantastic. Just type in the ip address to whatever drive, server or computer you'd like to access, input the login credentials, and you'll be connected withing seconds. I have a server that's a little slow to access on PC, yet somehow, the connections were fast and snappy when tapped by this app. And you can also post files to Dropbox and your other favorite cloud services.
There are two themes to choose from, as far as the interface. Sure, more options might be nice, but it's a file explorer, so I don't think superficial stuff like that really matters. The app runs fast and I experienced no glitches.
ES File Explorer File Manager is outstanding. For me, this one is tied for first place as far as file explorer apps go. Love it.
