Review Empire: Four Kingdoms
Build a shining kingdom from the ground up
Author: Vlad Popa
Date: 19 Apr 2017, tested on Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo
OK gameplay, simple user interface
Rather common gameplay, graphics could have been better
Empire: Four Kingdoms for Android is a mix of strategy and tycoon games that attempts to create a fun game designed for players who enjoy kingdom management and army administration more than assuming direct control of their citizens and armies. Start from the lord of a small castle to the mighty ruler of a great empire that hopes to outlast all others.
The game plays quite decently. It presents an interface that takes a bit of getting used to, without being overly complicated. Players start out with a castle and a small, walled-off domain upon which to begin building their future empire. Once the citizens have begun producing the basic resources it’s time to start planning your military expansion and to tend to the administrative functions of the new bustling kingdom. Collecting taxes, expanding production, hiring overseers and ensuring that the food production is enough to support the needs of the people, all this and more are the tasks that any good king must tend to in order to be successful.
Overall Empire: Four Kingdoms is an enjoyable game, even though the graphics fall a little short by today’s standards, most likely due to the fact that it focuses much more on the administrative aspect of the gameplay. It even includes the option to form alliances with other players in order to become a greater power through trade or military strength.
