Geocaching for Android is a real world treasure hunting game. Believe it or not, Geocaching is going on right now all around you, and you probably pass right by several hidden treasures every day.
With Geocaching you will be able to see the location of nearby caches that other people have hidden. Each cache is typically a small container like a tin or film canister, containing a logbook (roll of paper), and maybe a writing implement and some treasure (which you can replace with something of your own).
The only real drawback is that you look very strange furiously searching around behind fences and signposts. I worried what passers-by would think of me.
Geocaching might sound easy, but I visited 3 caches that are on my bike route between work and home, and couldn't find any of them! Then as I was leaving work, I suddenly thought of where one of them might be hidden. I went to look, and found it; a tiny canister made to look like a grenade! It contained a scrap of paper listing the dozens of people who'd found it before me. I was late for dinner!
I have to say, it's really heart warming to think that people are out there doing this; diligently hunting for containers, writing their username down and then hiding it again carefully. The Geocaching app has a description for each one, which may give you some clue where to find it, such as the approximate height. You can log your experience with a comment and perhaps a photo, whether you find it or not. Some of the caches in my area sound very clever. I do a lot of traveling, and enjoy long bike rides, so I feel Geocaching could become a serious hobby for me.
