Super Crossfighter for Android is trippy fun. Think psychedelic Galaga, meets acid trip Space Invaders. The graphics are outstanding and the play is unusual. I just love this one.

Super Crossfighter takes the best elements of two arcade classics, and morphs them into something totally new and jaw-droppingly cool. You're in charge of a spaceship fighter on the lower part of the screen and enemy craft appear above; blast the crap outta the enemy and avoid return fire. All that sounds familiar, right? Well the cool part is, at any time, you can warp your ship to the top of the screen and come at the enemy from behind. You'll have a few seconds jump on the enemy before they switch directions and come at you again, but then you can just warp back to the bottom of the screen and keep them guessing. Getting pinned down by enemy fire? No problem, just warp to the other side of the screen and keep blasting. Cool!

The graphics are high impact and dripping with saturation. This is digital eye candy at its best. The animation is surprisingly crisp, given all that's happening onscreen. This game plays a little like a trippy music visualization app with laser gunfire. The sounds are a perfect compliment to the action and glowing pixels onscreen.

The controls work very well, but there's a bit of a learning curve. It takes some time to wrap your head around how the game works, but once you get the hang of it, it's absolutely killer. Your left thumb moves your ship left and right, while your right thumb controls the warp and some special shooting functions. Both thumbs work in tandem and the controls are highly sophisticated and nuanced.

Super Crossfighter is outstanding. Just a good, solid, classic retro play with tons of intrigue, originality and excitement. Prepare to warp your reality. This one is fun.
