Interesting graphics, really addictive, one-finger controls
Animation is a bit laggy, in-app purchases
99 Bricks Wizard Academy for Android brings the classic Tetris back to life with some new twists and fun graphics.
99 Bricks Wizard Academy has done something many have tried, but few have succeeded at, and that’s make the classic game of Tetris brand new once again. All the usual pieces and play are at work here, but have added a cute storyline and concept to this pioneering puzzler. In this rendition, you stack the basic geometric shapes, as per usual, but this time, you’re building a puzzle house. Pieces drop from the top of the screen to the house’s rooftop below. Stack the bricks and puzzle pieces as they fit best, trying to build a sturdy rooftop for your comical new home.
Like any construction project, things never unfold as predicted. Soon your rooftop will teeter and bend in comical ways, as you try to maintain balance and build it higher and higher. When three bricks fall, which they invariably will, the game is over, and you get to put a topper on your goofy looking new house. Power ups can help you remove badly placed blocks, but will cost you after the freebies run dry.
The graphics are playful and cartoonish. The animation is smooth for the most part, but I did experience some hangs. The sounds are silly and appropriate.
99 Bricks Wizard Academy is a fun and quirky game for players of all ages. Puzzle fans will love it, and Tetrtis fanatics will appreciate the alternative style of play. This one is fun.
