Quality animation, neat graphics, ability to customize controls
Challenging controls, monotonous game play
Bee Leader for Android is an interesting and genuinely original game. Fly around, pollinate flowers, make honey and save the world. (Yup, bees are just that important.)
Bee Leader is very innovative in its concept and presentation. I really loved how the instructions on how to play were integrated into the game environment itself, offering a very creative and smart approach to what is typically something dry and static. As the story goes, you are the leader of a bee colony. As you fly around, more and more helper bees follow you and help you on the task of collecting nectar and making honey. The game environment is circular; just fly around and around, avoiding dangers and drinking sweet nectar from your favorite flowers. Collect as much as you can before the sun sets, then see how much honey you made.
The controls are excellent, but a little haywire. I found it difficult to control my flight path and move with accuracy. But the controls offer an array of options and styles of play, so a little experimentation with all the available choices will go a long way in improving your gaming experience. The sounds are appropriately funny, and the animation renders well. Surprisingly, the app doesn't overly tax and drain the battery.
Bee Leader is not only fun to play, but is also educational. Kids will love the lighthearted style and may even learn a little something about the importance of bees, true gamers will appreciate the nuanced, arcade style play. This one is a total original, which is a rarity in the world of app clones. Give it a whirl, if for no other reason that to appreciate the creativity.
