Plenty of game modes, can be played without in-app purchases, the game is addictive
No direct control over the character
Stick Tennis for Android is a more casual sports game than most. It is designed to be easy to learn but hard to master, however it proves to be quite easy to master, as the AI does most of the work. The game offers plenty of game modes to choose from, presenting plenty of content to play through. My personal favorite being the challenge mode, where each day offers an interesting match-up of real, famous players.
In terms of gameplay the game feels a bit oversimplified. It relies heavily on the AI for movement and aiming, leaving the player to control only the direction, type and force of each shot. Simply swipe, left to right in order to guide the ball to the right and vice-versa. This leads to some incredible points being scored, but also to some embarrassing losses. In the current gameplay, players may wonder why their character moved close to the net, when an obvious fast-ball was coming.
Like most sports games, Stick Tennis proves to be highly addictive, with its amusing characters designed to look vaguely similar to real professional tennis players and fast paced action. Although, I would have loved to assume full control over the characters, in a true test of skill and dexterity, the current gameplay is not without charm. Whether you enjoy casual sports games that you can easily sink your teeth into, or are simply trying to alleviate boredom, then Stick Tennis, might prove to be just the thing you are looking for.
