INDY 500 Arcade Racing for Android brings old school arcade racing back to life on Android. This is easily one of the best racing games ever made.
INDY 500 Arcade Racing reminds me of the arcade classics I used to play as a kid. It’s very immersive, fast paced and action packed. You are a contestant in a classic Indy 500 style race. You can race solo in speed rounds, or against live online players. The play is intense, addictive and a lot of fun.
The controls work quite well on this one. Just tilt your gizmo to steer with accuracy. The track gets pretty crowded at times, especially on the turns, so the superior controls here make weaving in and out of traffic highly enjoyable. There’s a lot of control and nuance here. The speed is also excellent, and really gives the feeling of movement. Acceleration is automatic, so there’s no getting bogged down with redundant controls there. And you can change the view from behind the car, to just behind the steering wheel, or place yourself right on the front nose, staring down at the speeding track as it whizzes by.
The graphics are truly amazing, but your battery will pay the price for it. My CPU got incredibly hot, and I could feel the warmth clear through the case. But it’s well worth the battery drain just to see all the graphic eye candy. This one uses battery power like Indy cars use fuel; it's a fast drain.
INDY 500 Arcade Racing is simply one of the best racing games I've played in a long time. I still give the edge to the old arcade classics I used to play as a kid; nothing beats sitting inside a replica Indy car and feeling like you're going fast. But this one is really good and certainly holds its own.
