Money earned can be used for car upgrades or buying a new car. Steering is controlled directly by tilting your phone, which is fun and intuitive. You can choose whether to have your car accelerate automatically, or to have pedal icons on the screen to use for accelerating and reversing. I found it easier to use the automatic acceleration mode. This doesn’t lead to excessive crashing into the sides, as would happen in many racing games if you just kept the accelerator pushed down the whole time.

As you race around the tracks, you can collect money and nitrous oxide canisters along the way. You build up a store of nitrous oxide, which you can use to give your car some fast boosts. The scenery in the tracks is quite pretty, and the 3D graphics are very good. The game works quickly, and the racing action is fast and intense. You have to win medals in different types of races. These include elimination (where the last car is knocked out in every lap) and survival (where you need to cross the finish line each lap before the time runs out, and the time keeps getting shorter). These are very original modes that make it interesting and addictive to keep playing.

Overall, Fast Racing 3D for Android is a great game to have on your phone as a timekiller. The upgrades that you get for your car, with money you earn while racing, really help you to stay ahead in the races. It doesn’t take up too much space on your phone. Of course it’s a bit of a battery eater (it’s a 3D racing game!). The ads are unobtrusive, and the in-app purchases are not necessary to play the game; you can just buy extra cash to help you unlock faster cars quicker. Free arcade fun!
