Retro style fun, local multiplayer, simple controls
Monotonous game play
Glow Hockey 2 is a game that brings back many memories for almost everyone. There are few people who have not enjoyed the competitive fun that is Air Hockey. The game brings some of that retro fun, gives it some flashy effects and creates a fun little game.
Controls are as easy as they come, you drag your glowing circle (hence the name) to block and shoot the glowing disc, which acts as a puck. The harder you drag your circle into the puck, the more force you project into it. The real trick is to bounce the puck off the glowing walls (starting to see a pattern here) so that it confuses your opponent into being unable to defend. A local 2 player mode is implemented, where each player controls one side of the screen. But unless you’re playing on a larger screen it will be a bit of a hassle to play right. Mostly you will find yourself playing against the well designed and increasingly difficult AI. On insane difficulty the opponent seemed almost unbeatable, but the lower difficulties ranged from too easy to quite the challenge.
Not much can be said about the graphics. They are very simple, but the effects on the paddles, puck and walls are really good quality. In the free version you can only customize the color, but the premium offers new table, paddle and puck designs.
If you’re looking for a nice casual game or just want to have a bit of fun with friends, then Glow Hockey 2 might be the game for you. The fact that the game does not feature ads and has almost all features completely free is a pleasant change from most games.
