Family fun, exciting game play, really addictive, simple controls
If you have no friends you can't play, inconvenient display
Heads Up! For Android is the fun and silly game invented by Ellen Degeneres. She apparently loves to play games, particularly charades, and often has guests play on the show and this one is based on one of her favorites to play on the show. Ellen would have guests put a card on their forehead, and the person would have to guess what is on the card, based on the movements Ellen is acting out. Well, Ellen decided to come up with an app version of that game, and this Heads Up! was born.
Heads Up! is meant to be played with 2 people or more. Select a category, place the tablet to your head, and let the silliness begin. If you guess correctly, tilt the tablet forward, away from your forehead, to advance to the next card. If you want to pass, tilt the tablet backwards to pass and go to the next card. The app keeps track of correct matches and passes and tallies it all up at the end. It even uses the front facing camera to record video of the person giving the clues, and has several options to share them easily. The person doing the gestures usually looks pretty funny, so the videos are always good for a laugh.
The biggest flaw with this one is the category selections are displayed in portrait mode, while the rest of the game is displayed landscape. This is minor, but creates a lot of needless twisting and turning of the tablet.
Heads Up! is a fun party game. It’s great for kids and adults, but I know Ellen plays it as a drinking game when she’s not on TV, so that probably makes it a little more fun.
