Review Warhammer 40,000: Carnage

8.3Excellent
Neat animation, quality graphics, decent game play, responsive controls
Kills your battery, bores you really quickly
Warhammer 40,000: Carnage for Android is a side scrolling, blood spilling, gut slashing game of …well …carnage. Duh! What were you expecting; a walk in the park?
Warhammer 40,000: Carnage doesn't make any bones as to what it’s about, but it does make mincemeat out of your victims. You are a bad ass looking warrior; part futuristic, part ancient looking. You've got a jet-pack on your back, and occasionally fire kick-ass futuristic guns, but your true weapon of choice - the one that just makes your heart sing with blood curdling mayhem – is your trusty blade. Run from the left of the screen toward the right and kill everything in sight until you reach the checkpoint; the more blood spilled, the better. And when you do really well, the game even says so in a creepy voice; ‘major carnage,’ or something spine-chilling like that. I can’t remember exactly, I was busy slashing bad guys at the time.
The controls work quite well. Different abilities appear as new buttons on the right, and directional arrows are on the left. You can’t really go backwards very far; if you didn't kill something as you were first running by it, then you can’t go back to spill their blood after the fact, so you’ll just have to find a way to be ok with that. But not to worry, there’s an endless stream of ghouls and beasts to slash.
The sounds were appropriately creepy and the game ran well. Some of the initial downloads were laboriously slow, but it’s all good once the game finally starts. Kills your battery though, but that should be no surprise since this game is all about killing everything in sight.
Warhammer 40,000: Carnage is actually pretty fun. If blood and mayhem is your jam, then this game will keep you entertained. If you’re a mom, you should probably steer your kid clear of this one, which will naturally only make your child want it all the more.
