Nice arcade action that captures the essence of real Skee-Ball

Quality graphics, interesting graphics, responsive game play, simple controls
Could get boring (but so does real Skee-Ball), needs to be elaborated, lags here and there, inconvenient to play on a small screen
Skee-Ball Arcade for Android is just good clean fun. Who doesn't love a good game of Skee-Ball? I sure do, and have spend many hours collecting tickets just to trade them for some useless trinket. This game brings back memories and does an excellent job of simulating actual play; maybe even better since it's sans tickets.
Skee-Ball Arcade is exactly as it sounds – a virtual Skee-Ball game for your Android gizmo. I think this would not be as much fun on a phone, where all the colorful graphics really couldn't be appreciated. Plus the accuracy of play would likely be affected. However, on a tablet, this plays quite well with a lot of accuracy and subtlety.
The controls are just finger swipes, and the cool part, is they are sensitive enough to register subtle differences in your toss. Hurl the ball or toss it gently, and the controls really do a good job of depicting those subtle differences. The weight of the ball and physics are good too. You can also tilt your device left and right to curve the trajectory of the ball.
There are lots of opportunities for bonus points if you throw along the pathway highlighted by a random moving arrow. And there are plenty of alternate themes to choose from; beach, pirate, paradise, holiday, etc. Most of those cost points, which cost money, so I just stuck with the classic board which was plenty entertaining. But the colorful options are a nice touch.
Skee-Ball Arcade is fun and did an excellent job of capturing the look and play of real Skee-Ball. I think kids would love this, as would anyone who has ever enjoyed the occasional game of Skee-Ball.
