Wipeout for Android is one of my favorite games and definitely one of my favorite summer TV shows. Run wacky and fun obstacle courses, just like the TV show; complete with gut bustingly funny slow motion replays. This one takes skill and would be fun for gamers of all ages.
This Wipeout app is better than any of the Nintendo Wii versions I've played, and I tried them all. Trust me, this one is a lot of fun. The game follows the basic format of the show, just like you're playing for real on TV';except without the pain and you get to keep your 2 front teeth! . First, you have to pass the qualifying round, which comes complete with the Big Balls, Tippy Towers, and all the favorite obstacles, direct from the show. If you complete the course in a qualifying time, you advance to the next stage; qualify for that round, and you're off the the finals where you'll try your luck at conquering the Wipeout Zone. (Good luck with that one.)
Controls are excellent for such an intricate game. Just tap your thumbs to leap, duck or run. You can actually jump from one obstacle to the next with a high degree of control and accuracy. And believe me, all that control comes in handy when trying to navigate through these wobbly and goofy obstacles. The sounds are funny as can be, replicating a lot of the silliness from the show. And the slow motion replays can be watched as is, or you can move through them frame by frame to see all the excruciating pain and even share snapshots with friends.
Wipeout is a killer game brought to you by the Activision people, who have been making great games since Barnstorming for Atari back in the 80s. This one is really a lot of fun, with tons of goofy levels and hilarity. For sure this app has convinced me that I would NEVER volunteer to be on this game show. The $50 prize money would be great, but I'd have to spend most of it on restorative dentistry and cosmetic surgery after these obstacles knocked the crap out of me. I'll stick to this app; it hurts less.
