Neat graphics, the game is addictive, simple controls
Monotonous game play
Push Panic is all about blasting colorful blocks away before they overrun you. It has some similarities with bejeweled games, but it is far from being a clone of such games.
The mechanics are easy to get a hang on. Colored blocks will fall from the top of the screen and you must tap two or more blocks of the same type to select them and then swipe them off the screen for points. The more blocks you get rid of at once, the bigger the multiplier. So you have to decide if you want to get rid of a few blocks at a time, thus removing them faster, or wait for more of the same type to fall, earning you more points when you blast them away.
There are multiple game modes, depending on what you prefer. In classic mode you have a limited number of blocks that can fall before you can enter the next level, classic mode is more suited to people who prefer a progression in their game. In Score Panic mode you have an endless amount of blocks and you must get the highest score possible before you are overrun, suited to people who want a high score for the bragging rights. Color Panic is another endless mode in which no more than 8 blocks of a kind can be on screen at the same time, making it a bit more challenging. And finally Time Panic where you only have 3 minutes to get the biggest score possible, perfect for those with little time to play.
The graphics are vibrant and colorful, although the design is a bit reminiscent of a bejeweled game. The music implemented is fast paced and catchy, in perfect tune with the artwork design. If you combine the music and artwork together it has a very summer like feeling to it.
All in all a fun little time killer that manages to stand on its own, despite its similarities with other games. It’s nice that the game manages to offer a game mode for everyone but it does tend to become a little stale after being played for a long period of time.
