SlideIT for Android is a stylish and highly functional virtual keyboard with a built-in app launcher.
SlideIT is known as one of the best Android keyboards for a reason. It's because no other keyboard packs this much punch while looking this good. The cornerstone of this keyboard, is the ability to slide-input your text. What this means is, you can literally slide your finger from one key to the next to spell the words you'd like to type. The idea is that sliding is much faster than picking up your lazy little thumb and tapping the next letter. It's debatable if there's any truth to that, primarily because there's a steep learning curve. It takes a little getting used to. But for some people, sliding works quite well.
The keyboard is nicely laid out with some very stylish skins to suit your liking. The skins require an additional download; some are free, some will cost. My personal favorite feature is if you tap and hold the function button on the lower left, it opens up an alternate menu, from there, you can launch some basic tasks, like email, web browsing and several others; if only one could remember what they all are when they are needed.
The keyboard can be resized to your liking. some users prefer to leave the keyboard narrower than their screen, that way, you can easily slide the keyboard around the screen if it's blocking anything beneath. Very handy.
SlideIT has a great look and functions well, however, some of the double tap keys did hang occasionally. Personally, I have never taken to slide typing because I have never had the time to get good at it. However, this is an excellent keyboard and the slide typing is quite popular with those who are good at it.
