Sky Force 2014 for Android takes me back to my childhood. Ahhh, sweet memories. No, I was not a fighter pilot in WWII, just a kid that played a lot of video games.
Sky Force 2014 is a modern update on Capcom’s classic arcade game, 1943: The Battle of Midway. It was one of my favorite games as a kid and I spent many week's allowance into that machine, 1 quarter at a time. This contemporized version of that classic did a great job of recapturing the essence of Midway and added some new and exciting elements.
The first thing you’ll want to do is go into the control settings and switch it from the default control to the alternate choice on the right (they are not named, just trust me, the alternate is better.) The first option places your bomber right under your finger, which really doesn't work well. You need to see your craft in relation to the action in order to protect it and dodge enemy fire. Switching to the alternate control places your craft just above your finger, giving a better view and recreating play that more closely mimics using a joystick on the original arcade game.
Just slide your finger around the screen to move your bomber around the sky. The craft shoots automatically in rapid fire succession, so literally all you need to do is bob and weave and blast the hell out of everything. Destroyed enemies leave behind bonuses and power ups to collect; like bigger and badder gun upgrades.Be sure to rescue the prisoners too; don't just leave them behind enemy lines to die.
Sky Force 2014 is fast and exciting. I love the retro feel with modern graphics. Animation is great and the game is highly addictive. Love it!
