Review QuickPic
Fast functioning gallery app with a small footprint
Author: Jay Feldman
Date: 08 Jul 2017, tested on ASUS Nexus 7 (2013)
Simple interface, minimalist design
Weak functionality, needs to be elaborated
QuickPic for Android is a basic gallery and photo manipulation app. The feature set is pretty sparse, but the upside is, if you just want to do very basic cropping, looking and moving, this one doesn't clutter the issue.
QuickPic is a very pared down gallery app. Easily browse your photos, hide embarrassing ones, create categories, online galleries and share with friends. I love that the app is super lightweight, with a very small footprint and hardly any permissions. The online services are compatible with Picasa, Google Drive, Dropbox and all the usuals. The slideshow feature functions quickly, with no embarrassing hangs or blank screens while rendering; so if you’re hovering around your device with friends, sharing that super funny pic they just gotta see should actually be entertaining rather than tedious. The password protection feature will help any accidental views that we’re meant for select eyes only.
The interface is clean and smooth. Pinch zoom worked quite well with only nominal hangs here and there. You can rotate, crop and resize pics with ease, or set them as your new wallpaper. And the sort functions based on name and date, with rename capability, are all helpful.
QuickPic offers only slightly more functionality than your stock gallery app. But if you’re not happy with the current renders and browsing speeds of your current gallery, this app might be worth a try. It functions fast, it just doesn't really do much.
