Review Bloons TD Battles

Online multiplayer, unusual plot, addictive game play
Low quality graphics, difficult to play without in-app purchases
Bloons TD Battles for Android is amazingly fun. You can play practice rounds against the computer, create private games against friends or try your luck against a random online opponent. I made two different online players run away and quit in the middle of our game, so who’s the bad ass now beeyotch?! (Not trying to be cocky, just sayin’. Let me revel in my successes, however small.)
Bloons TD Battles offers a new twist on the standard tower defense style game. In this version, you go head to head on a split screen against an opponent. Each player has a battleground to defend against the onslaught of terrifying ….balloons? Eeek! Quick, run away before one razzes you in the face - frrrrrrrrrppttt!!! Ok, who just let one rip? On second thought, never mind; I don't want to know.
Like most tower games, each player has a pathway through their battlefield. The computer automatically sends balloons down each player’s path and you have to build various towers to defend your turf. What makes the game extra fun, is opponents can also send extra balloons to attack their opponent. There are various balloons to choose from, each with different characteristics. Launching extra balloons costs you some virtual coin, so you have to be careful to budget your resources between launching balloons and building up your tower defenses. It’s all very frantic and fun.
The graphics are very comical and colorful. The animation is great fun. And the towers are just downright silly. I mean, we’re talking balloons here, people. Has anyone ever engaged in warfare with balloons? What could be more terrifying or more deadly? It’s like Bozo the clown is at war with Fizbo the clown in an all out, helium filled warfare. Too funny.
The controls worked well. Just tap the screen to make your choices, upgrade towers and launch your balloon assaults. You rack up points quickly, which helps keep the game active with the ability to upgrade towers and launch attacks frequently. The game gets very frenzied. Sometimes it’s hard to tell who’s actually winning, but the eye candy is so much fun, that I’m not sure it matters. All I know is my opponents wimped out and ran away from our game, so I guess my killer attack balloons were just too much for them.
Bloons TD Battles is fantastically fun and addictive. If there’s any flaw to this game its that I’m not sure how it ends, or if there even is an end to it. It could get boring over time, but will certainly provide a lot of laughs and entertainment for a little while. Really cool game. Especially love the online features and ability to play friends in private battles. This one is great for gamers of all ages.
