Quality 3D graphics, exciting plot, exciting game play, convenient controls
Kills your battery, inconvenient to play on a small screen
RoboCop for Android is very well developed and presented. This game is like dropping yourself in the midst of the movie and thick of the action. It’s intense and immersive, though I wonder how long it will remain entertaining.
RoboCop is a highly refined combat game, based on the recently re-released movie of the same name. You are RoboCop, and your mission is to fight crime and keep the streets safe. The landscape is a seedy urban underground. You scout for dangers and engage the enemy in fierce gunfire. There are an array of cool weapons and gizmos to help you do battle and the action is quite intense. Take cover behind obstructions, use your thermal imaging to identify threats and take them out; but be careful, some of the people are innocent citizens and you have to save them while blowing up bad guys.
The controls work quite well. The screen is divided into two halves; once side changes the point of view so you can look around and scout threats, and the other half of the screen is an innovative aim and fire control; just slide your finger to move your gun’s cross hairs, and let the bullets fly. The excellent controls keep the action moving.
The graphics are quite good and look like they came straight out of the movie. The animation is also quite good. I did experience a few lags, but that’s to be expected given all the complex computations happening on the fly. My battery did get hot and had a decent drain after just a few minutes if intense play. The sounds are spot on and would be even better with headphones.
RoboCop will be appreciated by anyone who enjoys immersive combat style play. It’s very well done and I think this one could hold your interest for a good while, though the constant visual and audible assault on your senses may get to be a bit much if you go for marathon play.
