Decent graphics, simple controls
Too easy, very common, low quality animation
Lep's World 3 for Android is the third installment in this Super Mario Brothers clone set in the land of lucky charms, green clovers and creepy crawlies that are magically stupendous.
Lep's World 3 makes no bone about the classic game it's borrowing from. The play is basically identical to Mario, with just some theme specific tweaks. This one takes place at the cusp of the magic rainbow, in a land where strange critters are out to get you, but are rather passive and innocuous about it. They mean you harm, they're just not going to go out of there way or anything.
Traverse the side scrolling environment, punching out blocks, collecting coins and hurling pine cones at enemies and obstructions. The graphics are decent enough and look like a crude Nintendo game console form the 80's. The animation is very choppy and rudimentary. I love retro games, but not at the expense of quality presentation.
The play is decent, with lots of levels, but I 'm one of those gamers that played Mario to death, so I'm just not feeling much intrigue with this one. It's just more of the same, without the illusion of the first time, and doesn't do anything all that original or inspired.
Lep's World 3 will be enjoyed by fans of the genre, especially kids who haven't yet been burned out on it all. The play is easy, with no gratuitous violence. The play is solid but doesn't bring anything new to the table.
