Neat animation, neat graphics
Juice Cubes for Android is a sweet ‘n’ sticky match three game that’s dripping with colorful, juicy fun.
Juice Cubes takes your standard match three style play and brings some fresh, colorful graphics to the mix. This one has some interesting power ups, like the ability to combine bombs for bigger chain reactions and satisfying scores. I also like the ability to make matches on the diagonal, or twisting and bending around in various ways. The game boards get larger and more complex as the levels progress, and the app features and interactive level map to keep things interesting.
The graphics are playful and entertaining to look at. I’d call it eye candy, but it’s more eye melon with a dab of delicious tropical fruitiness. I didn't know if I wanted to keep playing or just eat the screen. The animation is visually satisfying, though I did encounter a few rendering jitters. The sounds are equally satisfying and dripping with mouth watering juicy goodness. Upgrades are available for about the cost of a stiff drink.
Juice Cubes is brought to you by the creators of Angry Birds, and lives up to the quality and caliber we all expect from the good people at Rovio. I don’t know that there’s much inspiration going on here, but everything is yummy to look at and makes me crave a fruity summer beverage to be enjoyed under a lush palm tree. But I guess we’ll all just have to settle for playing this game instead.
