Functions quickly, intuitive interface, simple design, no ads
No significant drawbacks
My Roll for Android is a gallery replacement app that helps you automatically organise your photos into 'moments'. One particularly cool feature is that you can use it to create albums of these 'moments' on a range of social network platforms including Facebook. You can also email a 'private' link, which lets people see the photos on myroll.com. That works fine, and could be a good way of sending photos easily without sharing them on social networks.
The interface is clean and bright, and I find that it functions more quickly than my stock gallery app. You can pick which folders you want to display in myroll, and change them anytime. You can play a slide an animated show of the photos in each 'moment'. This makes a collage of them, and they drift and change around.
Overall, MyRoll is a solid gallery app, with fast thumbnail loading, great Facebook integration, and the ability to quickly send links with your photos. You can use it just to quickly flick through all your photos, organised by date, and delete any unwanted ones. It seems tiles together oddly shaped photos very well. I suspect that when you view the photos fullscreen, it isn't showing them in full resolution because you can only zoom in so far. But most of the time, this is what you want really, as it helps to memory use to a minimum and lets you flick through your photos rapidly. The navigation controls are intuitive. It's remarkable that such an excellent app is both free and ad-free. If you are fed up with your stock gallery, I recommend this free replacement very highly.
