Help the Lemmings reach the exit
Perfect mobile gameplay mechanics, loveable characters
Art design still feels dated, currency system feels forced

Lemmings is a game that came out a really long time ago that offered a pretty interesting premise at the time. It’s a sort of procedure game where you will “program” non-playable characters’ behaviors so that they reach a final destination. Games like this have grown considerably more complex over the years but the latest iteration of Lemmings for Android sticks to its roots while upgrading the visuals to give them a more modern appeal.
As the game will tell you right out of the game, Lemmings are not very smart creatures. Left alone, they’ll continue walking forward no matter what’s in front of them – even if that means certain death. They don’t care, but you, however, do. Your task is to go from level to level, saving as many Lemmings as you can so that you can use them to save desolate planets. Fortunately, this is all done pretty easily.
Each level is arranged on a grid and there are a number of things you can do on each in order to succeed. Lemmings can only fall two blocks before splatting on the ground, so you’ll need to use things like portals, umbrellas, shovels and more to shape cushion their falls, reshape terrain and guide them to the exit of each level in a safe way. The amount of Lemmings you save in each level affects your overall score for each level.
Surprisingly, as much as I didn’t like Lemmings as a child, I really enjoyed the mobile version. Everything just kind of sticks. The gameplay mechanics work from a mobile perspective and each level is the perfect length for the platform.
