When you think of a game, you’re likely thinking about playing something that involves you playing something in a very active way. Maybe you’re swiping left and right in a runner to get to the end of a level, or jumping over obstacles. Tricky Test: Get Smart for Android is a game that doesn’t have you doing anything like that. Rather than testing your reactions or timing, it tests your mental fortitude.
Tricky Test is all about trying to make you think outside the box and it will do so by presenting you with a series of word problems or instructions. Sometimes you’ll be presented with something that looks very familiar to you, such as level 2, which asks you to swipe to the left even though it looks like an iPhone unlock screen that you would typically swipe to the right on. The game uses deceiving tactics like this in order to get you to slow down and really think about what it is that you’re trying to do.
Most of the levels I came across weren’t impossible, but they did force me to think about the game the way the developers wanted me to. Sometimes that meant thinking as literally as I possibly could. Like altering the colors of objects by mixing two colors together or using words as verbs in order to accomplish a goal. This makes the game feel really rewarding because you start to understand how to solve the puzzles in fun ways.
Overall, Tricky Test: Get Smart is a fun puzzle game that is deeper than the visuals give it credit for. The game is not much to look at, but it’s fun way to spend 15-20 minutes at a time.
