Unusual game design, neat graphics, exciting plot, dynamic game play, responsive controls
You may be wondering...what exactly is a Quadropus? Well, it's not quite an octopus, but it still has more than enough limbs to do some serious damage, and you'll be sure to find out exactly how much damage a Quadropus is capable of in Quadropus Rampage.
This game is so absolutely amazing that it's hard to fit everything great about it into this review. In this game, you follow a small four limbed squid-like creature as he travels the depths of the ocean, fighting sea creatures and searching for an evil fish named Pete, who's sworn to take over the ocean. You'll find a very interesting set of controls that are incredibly easy to use and understand. You'll have a basic joystick for movement and one button for jumping. You'll then have one button for attacking, a button for an ability, and one button for special power-ups. When the ability and the power-ups are on cooldown, they will be pushed off of the screen.
The depth of the gameplay content here almost matches the depth of the ocean. In fact, a lot of the game is about depth - you must travel down through crevices, or 'sea sphincters' as the developers have humorously put it, to make your way towards evil Pete. Along the way, you'll be able to pick up a variety of awesome weapons, and switch out your current loadout in an instant. There are dozens of different sea creatures to fight, and the level designs feature plenty of interesting elements to keep you engaged.
There are many unique features to get invested in outside of the main game too. You can upgrade your character, choose new abilities and even unlock new pets. Whilst everything is available in-game for free, you can also purchase everything via in-app purchases. I'm really impressed with the way the developers have managed to keep the monetization elements as balanced as possible. It's very easy to play through the entirety of this game without spending a penny.
Quadropus Rampage is an absolute gem. From the humorous story and character dialogue, to the rogue-like combat and RPG style level system, there is just so much to delve into with this game.
