Controls are very responsive, currency is easy to earn, objectives make the gameplay more interesting
Game pacing is slow, lots of ads
If you’re not tired of games with names like Crossy Road, Jumpy Frog or anything else like that, you’ll probably have a blast with Bendy Road for Android, an arcade game that will probably test your patience and attention span as much as your reactions.
Like most Ketchapp games, Bendy Road is a pretty simple game to jump straight into, but you’ll need to really understand the game in order to actually get pretty far in the game. Otherwise, you’ll fail over and over again. In this game, you’ll follow a ball as it winds through a bendy road. You’ll need to avoid obstacles along the way. In order to do this, you’ll need to tap the screen to jump over things - or not in some cases.
The game has different objectives that will help you earn more and more points. These points can be collected while you play the game, but you’ll use them to buy new cosmetics. None of these cosmetics do anything else, and they’re all seemingly random. I’m not a fan of blind boxes, so it would be much better if you knew what you were getting ahead of time.
The gameplay is actually decent, though a bit slow. It takes a while to really get going which means that every time you fail, you’ll have to repeat the same boring parts again and again. This is compounded by the fact that you’ll have to watch an ad every three or four tries, too. Bendy Road has its moments where it’s a pretty fun game, and the ads aren’t too intrusive, mostly just full-page ads, no videos. The pacing could be a bit better, though.
