Great minimalist graphics, tight controls, good currency system
Gameplay is repetitive, difficulty curves kind of slowly
When it comes to great arcade games, some of the cream of the crop are right here on mobile. Flight Color for Android is a really cool puzzle game that has a really great series of color palettes, a fun premise for gameplay and it’s just plain fun to play. You’ll no doubt spend hours playing this endless arcade game.
Alright, so what exactly do you do in this game? Well, you play as what looks to be almost a paper airplane. Your plane travels from the bottom of the screen up. The row your plane is on is always a certain color and as you move, you move into different colored tiles. The object is to move your plane left to right onto the same colored tile as the row you’re on. As you play through the game you’ll fly through different barriers which then changes the color of the row you’re on so you’re constantly having to change the way you think as you move through the game.
Playing through the game, you’ll get access to coins that sit inside various tiles through the rows. These coins can be used for a number of things, like buying new color palettes to keep things fresh, and you can also use these coins to purchase new planes, too. The controls are really tight and responsive, and I love the minimalist graphics.
Overall, Flight Color is a great arcade game that ticks all the right buttons. Play sessions can be as long or as short as you want them to be and you can easily jump in and out of games. The art style is great and the gameplay mechanics feel inventive.
