Collect balls, break bricks
Addictive gameplay, surprisingly small amount of ads, subtle gameplay mechanics
Clumsy mechanics

Pigs must be flying because there is a game developed by Ketchapp that I actually enjoy. Ballz for Android is a super addictive time killer that reminds me a lot of Brick Breaker. Probably because it’s basically that game on steroids.
There is free-to-play endless fun to be had here. Gameplay is simple, you’ll swipe your finger to throw balls into the bricks and break them. Aiming the ball is a little awkward and even after playing for a while, I still fumbled around a bit trying to aim it. But when you launch the balls just right and watch them fly through the level destroying nearly every brick on the screen in one go, well, it’s pretty darn satisfying.
You’ll start with one ball, but you’ll notice yellow and white circles appear each turn. The yellow circles are the game's currency while the white circles are new balls that can be added to your collection. The more balls you collect, the more you can shoot off. And you’ll need them because bricks are numbered. The higher the number, the more times they need to be hit to break.
Usually, Ketchapp games are totally full of ads. I’ll admit that the very first thing I saw was a full-page ad but it was one of the very few.
Overall, Ballz was a really enjoyable experience. It’s not a particularly skillful game, but there are subtle mechanics you need to learn and utilize in order to make the most out of each run.
