Some of the best pixel graphics on mobile, smooth controls, incredible gameplay
Stamina timer is too long
Release the Kraken!!! Wait? Oh, right, this isn’t Pirates of the Caribbean, even though the Kraken might be your main opponent. Evil Factory for Android is an action-packed retro arcade game that pretty much puts you inside a factory that manufactures straight up evil. Your job, as some dude from the International Alliance (just kidding, his name is Leo), is to take down the Kraken and destroy this factory.
Right off the bat, the game just screams high quality, and it’s exactly that. In most mobile games, stories tend to get in the way of gameplay, but while the story here never left me hanging onto the edge of my seat, I did enjoy just reading the dialogue between all of the characters. It’s all really well written and funny.
Gameplay is good, too. You use a virtual joystick with two buttons to move your character around and use your weapon and subweapon. You main weapon is dynamite and can be used an infinite amount of times, but your subweapon only recharges outside of missions. You also have a cool ability to slow down time when you stop moving, which helps you dodge oncoming attacks.
At the end of missions you’ll fight really cool bosses, get loot and earn gold that can be used to purchase more weapons. Unlocking new weapons increases your damage against enemies, and you can also upgrade your weapons to do the same.
I can’t say I was surprised by Evil Factory - the game looked cool just in the screenshots. But it’s always nice to find a game that more than meets your expectations and is really fun to play.
