Graphics fit the game well, the controls are balanced
Low quality sound effects, reward timers are too long
Do you like Trials and racing games? If your answer is yes then Hill Climb Racing 2 for Android is definitely the game for you. It’s a mobile racing game that combines the physics engine and levels of a Trials game with a traditional online racing game to create a competitive racer you can take with you on the go.
As with just about any game nowadays, this one starts off with a comprehensive tutorial that teaches you the basics of the game. Fortunately, it does so by throwing you directly into a race right off the bat. Might as well learn to swim by jumping into the deep end, right? Turns out the game’s controls are really great. You’ve got a gas pedal that will turn your car counter-clockwise while in the air and a brake pedal that will turn you clockwise.
You will seamlessly be thrown into online matches against other players. I wasn’t sure that I was actually playing against real human players at first until I caught a few frames of a screen saying it was looking for players. Typically finding matches online is so fast you’ll never even realize the game is looking.
Racing is split up between different cups. You’ll start off in the bronze and will earn rank by winning matches. I was able to win about 98% of all the matches I played in by making sure I always had a perfect start and staying stabilized during the race. Winning gets you more rewards that can then be spent leveling up your car or buying new ones.
My biggest complaint I can really lob at Hill Climb Racing 2 revolves around the poor sound FX. Everything sounds tinny. I’m also not a fan of having rewards locked down on timers that are hours long. The gameplay itself is top notch.
