Incredibly fun game mechanics, great visuals, lots of ways to build up your character
The game gets really grindy, some of the missions seem impossible
If you’re the type of person who enjoys playing as a wizard or mage in every fantasy RPG you play then you’ll love Wizard Swipe for Android. It’s like a tower defense game without the towers. Instead, you play as a wizard who lobs fireballs and casts other spells so you can defend your castle from a horde of undead monsters.
The game starts off with an incredibly short tutorial, which is something very much appreciated. But, I have to say, the game is simple enough that it doesn’t really warrant a tutorial anyway. You simply swipe to cast fireballs. Wherever you swipe your finger is the direction the fireball will fly. You can only cast spells by swiping from your castle, though, so you can’t cheat by simply swiping right in front of an enemy. You’ll eventually unlock other spells you can cast. In this game, every bit helps.
As you play through the game you’ll run through different types of enemies. You have skeletons that have very little health but move quickly and then you have others that will begin to teleport around the level the moment you start your fire barrage. As you might have guessed, you’ll quickly find yourself overrun by skeletons.
You earn gold after completing each level and completing goals specific to the level. For instance, sometimes you’ll need to kill a certain amount of frozen enemies or times when you have to kill them with pyroblast. Just different things to keep the gameplay varied and interesting.
I really enjoyed my time spent with Wizard Swipe. The gameplay is really good and entertaining. I do have a few gripes, though. The game gets overwhelming pretty soon, progression gets grindy and some of the missions can feel impossible, but the overall package is good fun.
