Review Cristiano Ronaldo: Kick'n'Run
Your run of the mill runner featuring Cristiano Ronaldo
Author: Brandon Girod
Date: 28 Jun 2016, tested on HTC One M8
Soccer themed, good graphics, tight controls
Mediocre gameplay, incredibly repetitive
I find it almost painful that developers can make a Plain Jane endless runner that still gets a crazy amount of downloads. Cristiano Ronaldo: Kick’n’Run for Android is your basic, run of the mill endless runner with one tiny exception - you can kick a soccer ball.
This game literally has nothing to do with soccer other than the fact that it features Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, you can kick targets with your soccer ball, and there are defensive players standing around in the street that you need to avoid. Other than that, it looks like you’re just running down some random European street where just about everything you can think of is trying to kill your, or at least injure you in a very serious fashion.
You’ll find yourself doing very similar actions that you’ve done before. Sometimes you’ll dodge left to avoid a bus or maybe you’ll need to swipe up so you can jump over a blockade that isn’t actually blocking anything. You’ll collect coins and the like that can be used to purchase temporary power-ups, which are just about the most unexciting upgrades a game can dull out.
Unless you’re the biggest Ronaldo fan out there, please do us all a favor and demand more! Ronaldo deserves more! I deserve more! We all do. This is a low-effort, reskinned endless runner that only exists to try and pry money from you through ads or an incredibly lackluster cash shop. An endless runner based on soccer could be so much better than this.
