Fun gameplay, responsive controls, has pandas, incredibly creative design
Bushido Bear for Android poses the question, “What’s more dangerous than an angry bear?” Well, it’s answer is a ninja bear, and I’d be pretty inclined to agree. This is a fun, fast-paced arcade game where you control a bear who is tasked with defending your forest against an endless barrage of evil demons.
I actually kind of got a Fruit Ninja vibe from this game because you’re actually swiping your figure and drawing paths for your bear to wreck havoc on all in its path. In the beginning, you’re given a brief tutorial on how to play the game and they smoothly tie it into the story so you don’t feel like you’re just wasting time and dragging your feet as you make your way through learning the game.
Fortunately, the tutorial is short and you can immediately jump in and start defending your forest. Surprisingly, there are a lot of ways you can maneuver your bear. Tapping anywhere on the screen will move your bear to the location you tapped on. This is something you’ll need to use when you try to dodge arrows that enemies shoot at you. There are also a lot of moving enemies, so you may also want to use this ability to cancel where you’ve swiped at.
As you progress through the game you’ll be able to unlock new characters to play as. Each character has unique passive skills and abilities, so there is a lot of replayability here.
I had a ton of fun with Bushido Bear. It managed to make itself not feel like an arcade game despite the fact that it is pretty much exactly that.
