Unique aesthetic, doesn’t hold your hand
Progression can stagnate, doesn’t take enough risks
Tesla Tubes for Android is a puzzle game that is both addictive and pocket-sized. You’ll team up with Professor Droo and his grandson in a quest to power something called the Tesla Tubes. In game you’ll have to connect batteries by covering the board with tubes in order to complete each puzzle.
I really enjoyed the fact that the game doesn’t waste any time throwing you into the fray. You’ll got through precisely one tutorial stage which doesn’t really do much to tell you about the game and then you’re off. The objective is to connect matching batteries with tubes. The batteries are laid out on a grid so you’ll need to create paths with the tubes in a way that completely covers the entire board while making sure none of the tubes overlap.
The pacing of the gameplay is a bit slow. I felt like maybe the game could have handled the tutorial a bit better, but the game sort of plateaus after that. The first 20 or so levels I played were literally only different for the sake of being different. None of them were actually any more difficult than the previous one.
This leaves me in a position where I felt like the gameplay was just a bit too repetitive. Typically, puzzle games increase with difficulty by either introducing new mechanics or more difficult levels, but I didn’t really witness anything like that in this game.
Tesla Tubes is a fun and addictive puzzle game that suffers just a bit from pacing. It rockets off from the beginning but plateaus soon after.
