Beautiful graphics, vivid special effects, high-quality animation, simple operation
Galaxy Zero for Android is a scrolling air fighter game, like the good old arcade and freeware ones we used to love back in the 80's and 90's. Awesome weapons and wicked big bosses combine to make this an epic retro gaming experience. You play a space fighter on the surface of alien planets, in a raging battle between human factions. There's a neat little plot going on, gradually revealed as you progress through the levels, which provides a nice incentive to keep playing.
There's some comic book backstory about the next human evolution and suchlike; "nu humans", all pretty familiar sci-fi territory. As you go, you pick up, and cycle through, all manner of blasting laser weapons that fire in all directions, in streams, or wavy patterns. There's a seemingly endless armada of enemy planes to attack. Simply hold and swipe around to move and your fighter jet and fire continuously.
It's all a bit too easy, at least at the beginning. But the game provides a pretty convincing illusion that you are acing it, so you feel like a gaming kid on fire again. The stages bosses go through, with different attack methods, are really over the top and intriguing. For a bit of idle timekilling, and for taking yourself back in time to your childhood, Galaxy Zero delivers with every neon blasting pixel.
