Review Power Rangers Dino Rumble
A confusing mess

Good graphics, solid controls
Gameplay is boring, paywall
It may not surprise you to know that I don’t watch the Power Rangers, but I used to be a huge fan of the original series when I was a kid. There were even a few cool games that spawned from the franchise. Power Rangers Dino Rumble for Android is not a game like that, however. It’s Power Rangers in name alone.
This game was confusing from the very onset. For starters, when you open the game, you’ll select a chapter and then you’re immediately thrown into a fight. There is a bit of a preamble with a video that is, thankfully, skippable. Each video will set you up for what’s happening at that chapter of the story. Each video has decent voice acting, though the animation is a bit wonky.
Gameplay is what is really bad, however. When you’re thrown into the fight, you are presented with four attack options: kick, punch, gun, and sword. Each of these attacks will require you to do something different in order to gauge its effectiveness. Using a sword will require you to make slashing gestures on the screen. As far as I could tell, all of the attacks did the same amount of damage, however. Different enemies weren’t more susceptible to different attacks. In fact, there weren’t any different enemies to fight.
Once I had wrapped up the first chapter, I was immediately prompted with a paywall. It wanted me to pay $3.99 to unlock the rest of the game, which was absurd. The game isn’t worth anything close to that.
Power Rangers Dino Rumble is a game to stay away from. Hold onto your pennies. Treat yourself to a cup of coffee. Or just throw the money on the ground. All of these would be better than supporting a developer as lazy as this one.
