Review Drill Up
A very meh drill game

Great graphics, good animations, solid controls
Movement is too fast, characters are expensive
Continuing with Ketchapp’s slow downfall, here we have Drill Up for Android. This is an endless game where you play as a driller who appears to have upset the earth because now it’s shooting piping hot lava in your general direction. Oddly enough, you can’t just drill back up. Instead you have to jump from one spinning circle to another.
The game looks really great. The animations are good and the art style really works. The problem is that you can’t really see where you’re going and the lava rises at such a rate that it’s incredibly difficult to really get anywhere. You might be able to see two spinning wheels at a time, but you’ve only got one shot to hit your target before the lava gets you. Worse yet, the gears spin so quickly that it’s really difficult to measure up that shot.
Rewards exist in the game, and the various drills you can unlock are pretty cool, except I couldn’t figure out how exactly to unlock new skins. Clicking on them did nothing, and I wasn’t able to find any other way to select unlocks.
Ads are another problem with the game. There are tons of full page ads, and one gets served up after almost every death it feels like. The game also lets you watch videos for more coins, but you only get twenty coins per video which is hardly worth it in my opinion.
I found Drill Up to be a testimate in patience. Rewards didn’t work like they were supposed to, the game isn’t balanced well, and I honestly didn’t find the game fun. I believe there are plenty of better games like this in the world.
